Imam Nafis Bhayat
The Board is a non-profit, self-regulatory, voluntary body engaged in the promotion of Islamic Finance in North America.
Imam Nafis completed his memorization of the Quran at the early age of thirteen. Thereafter, he continued his Islamic studies at Darul Uloom, Bury, U.K., for the next six years in Quranic Tafseer (exegesis), Hadith traditions, Fiqh (jurisprudence), theology, and Arabic language.
After graduating with a degree in Islamic theology in 1992, Imam Nafis has served as the head Imam (chaplain) and Director of Religious Services at the Islamic Propagation Centre of Ontario, also known as Jame Masjid, Mississauga, Canada. His weekly Tafseer-ul-Quran classes attract hundreds of participants.
Imam Nafis is an executive member of the Canadian Council of Imams, the Canadian Council of Muslim Theologians, a board member of the Islamic Finance Advisory Board, a Shariah Advisor to many firms, an Ontario-registered Minister of Religion, and a licensed Marriage Officer. He is also a teacher at Ad-Duha Institute of Islamic Sciences.
